"My artwork uses imagery from the Arizona Wilderness, Mediterranean Mythology, and Earth Science to convey a message of connectedness with the Earth as well as the passage of nonlinear-time."
Giovanna's hand painted silk has been shown both nationally and internationally in shows, museums, galleries and shops. She holds a design patent on her cut leaf scarves and won the NICHE Award in '93. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Fiber Arts - Surface Design and a M. Ed. in Elementary Education pre-K-8 with an engineering core from ASU. Interior designers and architects including Taliesin West have utilized her skills as consultant and artist/craftswoman. Currently Giovanna is employed during the school year as an Earth Science teacher at the Middle School level in Southeastern Arizona.
Her most recent art-works fall into three categories:
*Hand painted and embellished silk quilts {These works range in size from 3'x4' to 5'x8'};
* Silk wearable art you can hang/hang-able art you can wear {Ancient Greek and Roman garment shapes so that they can hang flat or be draped and attached at the shoulder and waist};
* Illustrations for her education-adventures in both digital images and watercolor.
